Pictures from Bethlehem, PA on 11/04/2005

These pictures were take on November 11, 2005 by Glenn Kaiser. These pictures show how the Northern end of the former main line of the Reading Railroad's Bethlehem Branch are now ripped out. Bethlehem wants to build a greenway but after persuading NS to abandon the tracks, they haven't even budgeted to buy the ROW from them yet. Meanwhile, to the South, communities are trying to get passenger rail service restored on this same line, at least as far as Quakertown. With these tracks ripped out in Bethlehem, it's doubtful that passenger rail from Philadelphia will ever return to the city again.
